My Perfect Friend (2016)
An image created though a collaborative process with author Gayle Mavor. This was a partnership assigned by jury through the city of New Westminster for an event within the annual Litfest, where visual artists and writers are paired. The artwork was created though an ongoing dialogue surrounding the text that Mavor created from her childhood memory of a friendship that occurred in New Westminster. I created a series of watercolour paintings inspired by incidents within the text, folded them into a paper boat, and released it onto the Fraser River, referencing several moments in the text that describe the Fraser River as a powerful site. The paper boat was photographed and then this reflective image printed from it as a final iteration of the work which was installed alongside the text during the exhibition at the Anvil Centre.
Exhibited at the Anvil Centre Community Gallery in Diverse(city) as a part of New Westminster's Litfest 2016.
